The 27th Psalm

Some of you might know of my love of youth choirs, and The Soul Children of Chicago are one of the  very best.  This song is yet another adaptation of the 27th Psalm. The execution of this VERY tricky version is unmatched…ever entry, cutoff, crescendo, diminuendo, whatever it is, it’s spot on.

  1. The 27th Psalm Walt Whitman and The Soul Children of Chicago 5:11

This is not a typical piece either.  It’s true call and response.  But be sure to give it a chance and listen to the whole piece, right through to the Amen.  Just so you know, at 3:00 the leader says:

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

What the children respond with is that same phrase, going at about 100 mpg so it’s virtually unintelligible, but still with PERFECT diction and precision. WOW!!! (I took me a long time to figure this out…duh.)
