Donnell’s credentials are truly impressive having attended the New England Conservatory of Music, and earned Masters degrees in Music from both University of South Florida and Harvard. And that’s just his formal training!

In 1987, Donnell brought together a group of vocalists to form the Patterson Chorale, which specializes in and performs spirituals and traditional gospel. The chorale performed at the opening of the original House of Blues in Harvard Square and was the first gospel group to play its Sunday gospel brunches. For many years, Donnell served as accompanist for the Cambridge Community Chorus under the direction of Maestro William Thomas. In 2000, Donnell was appointed Program Director of the Roland Hayes School of Music, a public high school music program in the Boston Public Schools located at Madison Park.

In 2005, Donnell became the Director of Music of Belmont Hill School, however Donnell is most proud of his tenure of 20 plus years as Minister of Music at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

He is the extremely proud father of his twins, MelDonique and MelDonar.
