A nice contemporary rendition of a song that has been given several different settings over the years. This is from The St. James Adult Choir from Detroit’s St. James Missionary Baptist Church. (Okay, yes, I love the B3 in the song too.)
I stumbled across this cut the other day and it’s wonderful. It is interesting that when you look up this song on YouTube there is ALWAYS a notation that the lead singer/soloist is one of the origianl Caravans, Ms. Cassietta George. But that solo comes at the end of the song after a wonderful make solo for the rest of the song. NO WHERE is this singer mentioned. I recognized the voice as that of Calvin Bernard Rhone who sang the lead on the song “It’s Alright“. Calvin deserves major props for the work he does on this song.

One of the posts on this blog that garnered the most comments was a song by the Davis Sisters. People loved them. So, here are two more from The Davis Sisters. “Plant My Feet On Higher Ground” and a bonus cut just because I like all of you, “Oh, I Want To See Him”. Enjoy, have a super Super Sunday and GO PATS.

I have posted The Thomas Whitfield Company singing this song that was composed by Thomas Whitfield himself, but I just stumbled on another cut I wanted to share today.

This is a wonderfully inspired performance of the song by the choir at The Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Chicago IL. This was recorded at the Home Coming Service for Dr. Wylonn R. Allen, wife of Pastor Bishop William Allen. (Unfortunately, the recording isn’t the best quality, but I’ve enhanced it as best I can.)
“The choir sang under such an anointing on this day July 25th, 2015. I believe the First Lady Dr. Wylonn R. Allen is sitting proudly in her new home wearing her Crown in Glory..!!! ” If you’d like to see the program from the service…(it is worth seeing), you can view it here.
A wonderful performance of an old spiritual that veteran members of Joyful Voices should remember. (I can still sing it from memory!) This is a YOUTH choir from Harlem, and they do a perfect job with the song. Great stuff!!
Some wonderful old traditional honky-tonky style gospel from one of the great women of gospel, Bessie Griffin. Sorry about the funky recording…not great quality I’m afraid.
I don’t know exactly why I love this song so much, I just do. In August I published a version from Shara McKee. Pastor Rob and Shara McKee are Senior Pastors of The Pentecostals – One Church, in Katy Texas just west of Houston.
Today I’m publishing Yolanda Adam’s original song, just to give her and the song some airplay
